So the plan was something like this: I was gonna drive Derek’s car to Jackson, Mississippi, where he was flying in from a tour and rent a car. We would then drop off the rental and play a few dates in the south. It’s all really hazy now. I remember the two of us eating boiled peanuts outside of a convenience store and over-sleeping for an early morning TV show appearance (my publicist at the time was a big fan of the early morning-like 5 in the effing morning-TV shows. We also pulled some other stunts. I’m sure they all involved Jaeger. It was a common theme back then.

But when we got to Jackson we arrived at the venue there early. I was sitting there messing around on the guitar, and came up with what became the bass line to this song.  Fun fact – My manager was so mad about us missing the morning show (what did he expect? It was Shane Bartell and Derek Morris) he made me drive back to the south by myself and make up the 5 in the effing morning local TV date a month later. I have (almost) nothing but good things to say about Paul, but that was sadistic. He would have made a good high school assistant principal.
